CAN YOU WORK AS A VOLUNTEER REGARDLESS OF AGE?
No, you need to be 18 to join. Beyond that, we want a team with people from all age groups.
DO I GET FOOD?
Yes, all volunteers receive meals. Delicious and healthy food will be served there, as well as fruit and other light food will also be available.WILL I GET TICKETS?
As a volunteer, you get free entry to everything that the public also has access to.
CAN I SEE THE SHIPS?
As long as it doesn’t conflict with your assigned guard, you can watch the ships and use the city as you wish. Also remember that the public will still approach you and will expect your help as long as you wear the TSRA outfit. You are our external face and must always be welcoming and helpful as long as you are at the event.
WILL I GET A CERTIFICATE?
A general certificate will be available for download from the volunteer portal. Those who send a request to their section leader will be able to receive an individual certificate after the event. The certificate will describe the event, the section area and your work tasks. Many volunteers write up their experiences on their CVs, and the feedback is that many people think that being a volunteer adds new and valuable skills.
CAN I CHOOSE WHAT I WANT TO WORK WITH?
In your application to be a volunteer, you are recommended to list your top 3 priorities based on what you want. Applications are processed on an ongoing basis, and emphasis will also be placed on previous experience and willingness to work. In other words, it is very much up to you to work on what you really want. We want highly motivated people who are looking forward to creating a great event.
CAN I CHOOSE WHICH DAYS I WANT TO WORK?
You can request days, but you must also be prepared that your section leader can assign shifts if necessary to get everything to work.
CAN I WORK WITH A FRIEND?
We will of course try to be flexible so that you can work together with a friend. At the same time, there are many guards to be distributed and manned, so we cannot give any guarantee for this.
DO I HAVE TO WEAR THE VOLUNTEER OUTFIT?
All volunteers are requested to wear the official TSRA attire. The outfit can be purchased at a heavily discounted price. More information will be provided in the volunteer portal where all volunteers must be registered.
HOW MUCH DO I HAVE TO WORK?
The plan is that all volunteers must work a minimum of 2 days.
WHERE DO I MEET FOR WORK?
Information about the attendance time and place will be provided by your section leader when the event approaches. This is individual from section to section, depending on which work area you have.
HOW MANY VOLUNTEERS WILL WORK DURING TALL SHIPS RACES ARENDAL?
There will be a total of 470 volunteers working with the event in 2022 and 2023.
IS THERE A ACCOMMODATION OFFER FOR VOLUNTEERS?
Unfortunately, we do not have our own accommodation offers for volunteers.
